Helping Teaterbilletter bring the theater experience closer to the user

Teaterbilletter came to us, as they struggled with negative app reviews and market penetration. While exploring a new solution, we identified a need to upgrade the UI/UX, as well as to create a technical foundation that would support new features like exploration and purchase.

The Task

Our mission was to turn a struggling ticket platform into a vibrant cultural gateway. That meant more than just cleaning up the interface—we aimed to craft an experience that made discovering and booking theatre feel exciting, modern, and effortless.

From brand identity to booking flow, we focused on elevating every touchpoint, creating an intuitive, high-performing app and website that could meet users' expectations. We set out to reintroduce Teaterbilletter not just as a ticket provider, but as the go-to platform for theatre lovers across Denmark.

Challenges

While Teaterbilletter had a strong offering and exclusive access to tickets and discounts, their digital presence didn’t reflect that. The app had low ratings and poor user retention, and their online experience was more confusing than inspiring. Users found it difficult to explore shows, compare options, or even trust that they were booking the right thing.

On the backend, limitations in both design and tech made it hard to scale or roll out new features—like smarter filtering, richer show previews, or smoother checkout.

Insights

We spoke to both seasoned theatergoers and new users trying to discover what’s on, and why it was so hard to fall in love with the current experience. What we found was clear: users wanted inspiration before information. They wanted to browse like they’d window-shop: casually, visually, and without pressure.

They also wanted clarity: show details, prices, times, and available seats needed to be up front and understandable, with no hidden steps. And when they were ready to book, they expected the kind of frictionless checkout they’d experienced in other cultural or entertainment apps.

It wasn’t just about selling tickets, it was about helping people explore and get excited about what’s on stage.

Solution

We completely reimagined the experience—bringing bold visuals, clean navigation, and a modern UX to the forefront. The new app made it easy to explore shows by genre, mood, or location, and featured a fresh, editorial feel that matched the cultural richness of the content.

We streamlined booking with fewer steps, better performance, and a more transparent cart experience. Whether users were hardcore theatre fans or just in town for the weekend, the app guided them with elegance and ease. On the web, we mirrored this upgrade—creating consistency across platforms, and improving discoverability and conversion. And thanks to a rebuilt backend, the Teaterbilletter team is now equipped to continuously evolve the platform without being held back by technical debt.

Results

Following the relaunch, Teaterbilletter saw a significant shift in user sentiment. App reviews turned around, with improved ratings and longer session times. The sleek new design, faster performance, and exploration-first mindset resonated with users and gave the brand a much-needed glow-up.

More importantly, the platform is now built for the future—ready to adapt, expand, and inspire a new generation of theatre-goers.
